INSECT WOOD HENGE
Artist: JK “Koos” Buist
Created by Dutch artist JK “Koos” Buist, Insect Wood Henge was created to merge art and ecology. The work is a habitat for insects and a place for humans to commune with nature. The sculpture, or “henge” is created from found logs, and stones. The logs are arranged vertically in a circle, and a small flight of steps leads to a small opening in the sculpture. A small wooden stump is in the middle, inviting the user to sit and reflect on nature, the sculpture, and their surroundings. Insect Wood Henge was inspired by Native American earthworks; native plantings and wildflowers surround the sculpture.
