Ground broken on $10M expansion at Air Force Research Labratory

ROME, N.Y. (WKTV) – Tuesday in Rome, Air Force officials broke ground on what is to be a $10 million expansion of the Air Force Research Laboratory.

The purpose behind the addition is to add 28,000 square feet of new lab and support facilities. Plus it will get all of labs personnel working under one roof.

Those with the project say it’s important to having all their personal working in the same building, “there truly is a benefit in a research environment to get those researchers working together. The other side is this will be state of the art modern lab space where they can pursue the information technology research that is our bread and butter,” says Dr. Davy Belk of the Research Lab.

Once the expansion is complete, some staff from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio will be relocated to Rome.
